Originally gifted by His Highness Marthanda Varma in 1753, the village is steeped in history and Vedic traditions.

In loving memory of the late Smt. Meenakshi Ammal and Sri. S Krishna Iyer, a scion of the Dhanapramanis of Mahadanapuram, his son Srikameswaran and wife Lalitha, now living in Canada, donated the sum of Rs 40 lakhs, for the creation of the “Meenakshi Krishna Iyer Temple Fund”, a long-term fixed deposit trust fund, now administered by the Mahadanapuram Grama Samudayam.
The creators of the “Meenakshi Krishna Iyer Temple fund” Smt. Lalitha Srikameswaran and Sri. K. Srikameswaran, son of the Late Smt Meenakshi Ammal and Sri S. Krishna Iyer, now residents of Canada donated Rs 40 lakhs, a large part of their inheritance for the benefit of their beloved ancestral village of Mahadanapuram
